Tencent Charity Foundation and Connecting Hearts in the Social Welfare Sector jointly organised this year’s Hong Kong Giving for Good, collaborating with social welfare organisations in Hong Kong to promote public welfare initiatives both online and offline.

On 30 August 2024, General Secretary William Chan Hei Lung participated in the Giving for Good activities. Under the arrangement of Tencent Charity Foundation and Connecting Hearts, he along with 60 representatives from social welfare organisations, traveled to Shenzhen for a cross-border talent exchange and training event to learn how mainland China utilises the internet and digital tools in charitable endeavors, and to apply these practices to public welfare initiatives.

During the exchange, the General Secretary interacted with experts from the mainland charity sector to understand the challenges and experiences in utilising the internet and online platforms for promoting charitable services. Additionally, they visited the Shenzhen charity organisation “One Foundation” to learn about fundraising and advocacy using the internet. This exchange not only provided insights into digital charity practices in mainland China but also fostered connections with partners in Hong Kong, paving the way for potential collaborations in the future.
